Antoinette was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, and has been practicing the ancient art of henna since 1998.
After having two designs done on her, she decided learning this craft was a path she needed to pursue. Initially, she took a
couple of workshops and started playing with the medium.
In the winter of 2000, she approached Krysteen of Mehndi Madness
with a design she had decorated her own hand with and said "Hire me!". She then received extensive professional training
and worked the festival circuit with the Mehndi Madness team for two years.
Even after parting ways with her mentor to work a "real job", she occasionally continued to pick up the henna cone and adorn
herself and her friends. It wasn't until 2007 that she started up her henna practice again, with vigor and a new direction.
She discovered painting henna designs on canvas with acrylic paint. Examples of her work in this medium are at
Magic Magpie Studio.
Since starting her painting business, she has been reaching further into her henna background, and after an illuminating trip
to the Las Vegas Henna Convention in 2009, she once again fully embraced the title "Henna Artist".

She currently lives in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle with her husband (aka Web Monkey) and two cats.
From the Artist:
"I find that people, when they get henna, start gushing all sorts of flattering praise upon the designs:
"Oh, it's beautiful!", "It's Lovely!", "It's so fine!", "It's perfect!".
Personally, I think Henna is a reflection of what's already true. YOU are beautiful!
YOU are Lovely! YOU are perfect in design,
intricately detailed, and gorgeous. My henna simply is there to remind you that you are as fantastic as you are.
It doesn't matter what the style, whether it's floral or tribal, Asian or Western, big, little, simple or detailed.
What I draw on you is a reflection of your inner beauty. Enjoy!"
